William Jesdale, PhD is a Project Director in the Quantitative Health Sciences Department at UMMS. Dr. Jesdale's current research interests include the influence of social structures and environmental factors on health, racial residential segregation, discrimination, place-based measures, gay men's health, and working with large datasets. He has worked in the fields of AIDS activism, HIV vaccine research, immunology, gerontology, pharmacoepidemiology, environmental health, and gay men's health. He has taught epidemiology to hundreds of students, and is passionate about the promise and perils of the field.
 

Kristin Mattocks, Ph.D., M.P.H., is the Associate Chief of Staff for Research and Education at VA Central Western Massachusetts Healthcare System and an Assistant Professor of Quantitative Health Sciences and Psychiatry at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. Dr. Mattocks is a health services researcher who specializes in mixed methods research methods to understand women veterans' perceptions and experiences with VA healthcare services, as well as their prior experiences in the military. In particular, Dr. Mattocks' research focuses on understanding women veterans' reproductive health care services and experiences, and well as experiences of lesbian and bisexual veterans seeking care through the Department of Veterans Affairs. Dr. Mattocks is the chair of the VA LGBT Research Working Group and also the co-chair of the VA Reproductive Health Research Working Group.
